  • Microsoft Business Central – 1099 MISC NEC forms show incorrect Dollar Amounts in Preview R

Microsoft has acknowledged a problem with the PREVIEW features of 1099 MISC and 1099 NEC forms in Dynamics 365 Business Central as of 1-26-2020. The problem occurs when you press the PREVIEW button on the 1099 Misc and 1099 NEC forms. Although the majority of the information shows correctly, the actual amounts are showing an incorrect total. To audit your 1099 Amounts for each Vendor, you can navigate to “1099 FORM BOXES” and select the reports menu to choose the “1099 Information Report”. This report will accurately tell you the amounts for each vendor. If you need the edit the transactional details, you can do so in the “Vendor Ledger” and edit the 1099 Form or 1099 amount. In the 1099 Form Box, you can also make a vendor specific adjustment. To fix this issue, simply select to print the 1099 MISC or 1099 NEC form to the printer and select the PDF option. This will generate a PDF file with the correct totals. Call us at 855-227-0700 with any Business Central support questions or e-mail our team at Support@CBRTechnology.com . #1099 #BusinessCentral

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central (NAV) integration and synchronization to Sales Professional & Sale

Many questions have been raised by our clients about the nature of the integration between the Business Central (formerly known as NAV) and the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) module from Microsoft. This synchronization is native and provided free-of-charge by Microsoft. However, many of the synchronization concepts that you are familiar with, still apply. The setup of this synchronization should be performed by a Microsoft certified Partner that specialized int he implementation of the Business Central and CRM system. Guessing around in this part of the setup, if NOT the correct approach. What Business Central table objects are being synchronized and in what CRM table do they end up ? Table NameBusiness Central (NAV)Sales Professional-EnterpriseCustomer INFOCustomersAccountsVendor InfoVendorsAccountsCustomer ContactsContactsContactsVendor ContactsContactsContactsItem Master InfoItemsProductsItem Pricing InfoCustomer-Item PricingPrice ListsCurrencyCurrenciesCurrencyPayment TermsPayment TermsPayment TermsSales QuotesQuote Header – LinesQuote Header – LinesSales OrdersOrder Header – LinesOrder Header – LinesSales InvoicesInvoice Header – LinesInvoice Header – LinesCustomer StatisticsCustomer StatisticsCustomer Statistics The synchronization can be controlled on a table by table level. It can involve the entire data set or it can be limited to a subset of the tables listed above. The synchronization can be configure as a bi-directional or uni-directional data flow on a table-by-table basis. The Sales document integration supports a concept of a staging table which allows for an additional review prior to data being added to the Business Central system. Filters can be applied to the tables to limit the synchronization between the systems to specific sub-section. A single Business Central company can only be synchronized to a single CRM instance. Microsoft supports a Sandbox for both Business Central and CRM modules for testing and development purposes. Please call us at Tel. • Dynamics 365 Business Central – How to overwrite the currency exchange rate for a single trans

CBR Technology is a Microsoft Tier-1 CSP with resources to upgrade your NAV system to Business Central. We also provide Consulting and Development services for all NAV and Business Central users. Please call us at 855-227-0700 with any further assistance you might require. Many of our clients working with firms international, require the ability to transact in non-USD denominations. Business Central is FASB-52 compliant and handles multiple currencies and mingle currencies for the same customer or vendors. The system will also provide for the revaluation of previous currency transaction using a different exchange rate. Finally the system has the ability to automatically track the gains or losses due to currency exchange in different GL accounts as specified in the setup. The Business Central system comes with a built-in integration to a multi-currency service which provides for the ability to retrieve a daily exchange rate as published online. However, many financial institutions separate buy and sell transactions causing an issue with this approach. Many of our client require the ability to overwrite the default exchange rate for a specific transaction BEFORE it is being posted. Please simply select the proper currency in the selection window during a transaction, such as Purchase invoices. Then, simply press the triple-dot button to the right of the Currency Code field. In the window above, change the relational Exchange rate amount to the actual exchange rate you wish to use. Feel free to reach out to our team with any additional support issue you might experience with Business Central (Dynamics NAV) . Telephone (855) 227-0700 #BusinessCentral #Howto #MultiCurrency

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central – Assembly Orders versus Production Orders – Why use one o

Many of clients in the Manufacturing and Distribution industries are forced to decide which part of the Business Central product is best suited for their needs. In an effort to clarify some of the consideration of system module deployment, please be aware of the following items: What the modules have in common: Both Assembly and Manufacturing modules can track single or multi-level Bill of Materials for a finished product Both modules support a separate transaction to decrease raw materials and increase finished goods with support for Lot Number or Serial Numbers Both Bill of Materials support non-inventory Resources such as people or machines Both modules offer the ability to link the Sales order to an assembly or production order in a make-to-order configuration Both modules have the ability to schedule a start and end date for the transaction Why would you use the more complicated production modules versus the assembly order process: Have the ability to track work centers or machine center in routing steps (Process) Have the ability to track Versions (Revisions) for changes to Routing Steps Track unit capacities for work centers or machine centers and provide for scheduling options Support for outsourced routing steps and related transactions (Subcontractors) Production Bill of Materials supports version tracking (ECM) Ability to share the same Bill of Material across multiple items Ability to share the same routing steps across multiple items Production orders support multiple finished goods or sub-assemblies on the same transaction Separate the consumption of raw materials from the output of a finished good to provide for accurate inventory for an extended manufacturing process Support for Scrap Percentage and Safety Stock Settings Support for back and forward flushing methods for raw materials Track production orders in different stages including simulated, planned, firmly planned and released production order Ability to track a Production Journal which includes Consumption journal and routing steps specific output journal entries Provides the sales team with a simulated production order tool which would provide a delivery date for finished goods based on availability of raw materials, sub-assemblies and machine capacities It is important to note that Business Central supports a setting of assembly versus production modules selection on an Item-by-item basis. We would be glad to assist in a Consulting Project to review your specific requirements and assist in the proper module implementation for your organization. The Assembly module is a standard feature of the Business Central Essentials subscription while the manufacturing module is only part of the Business Central Premium Edition. If you select one subscription over the other, the ENTIRE organization has to make the same selection. Business Central does not allow for mixing subscriptions on a user level. Please call us at Tel. • What is the function Expected Cost Posting in the Inventory Setup ? Dynamics 365 Business Central (N

For additional support and an in-depth conversation about this function and its purposes, please feel free to connect with our Consulting team at (855) 227-0700 or vial e-mail at Sales@CBRTechnology.com . The Inventory module setup window is EXTREMELY important the setup here can impact your system’s performance significantly. When you receive a Purchase Order, the system will prompt you whether or not you are receiving the purchase order, processing an invoice for the goods received or dop both at the same time. If your organization always received the Goods with the invoice and you always process both at the same time, this setting will have no impact on your system. If you turn this feature ON, you can never turn it OFF again without causing problems in your items cost valuation database. This is why Microsoft has it turned OFF by default. If it is turned on, the following will occur, with regards to General Ledger: Create a Purchase Order and release it – No Impact on the GL Receive a PO Line item – Inventory Asset Account – Debit, Purchase Order Liability Account – Credit Receive the Invoice for the Items received – PO Liability Account – Debit, Accounts Payable – Credit If this switch is turned ON, the system will perform all three steps. If this switch is turned OFF, the system will skip Step 2 and only performs step 1 and 3. Ideally, proper selection should be chosen when you start using the system. If you have been using the system with the switch OFF, you can change it, but you must first receive all open PO receivers and post a matching Purchase Invoice. When there are no further transactions that have been received, but not yet invoiced, you can switch this function ON. Once you turn it ON, you can NEVER turn it off again. The Inventory Posting Setup has to be configured properly to post to a correct PO Liability account if you wish to use this part of the system. If you do not have the proper Liability account and you need to create a new one, please remember to update your Account Schedules as well. Please be very careful in this part of the system as the settings of the inventory setup window can be mission-critical. We always recommend that you consult a Business Central (Dynamics NAV) Partner as they are well experienced in this part of the system. Call us at Tel. (855) 227-0700 with any questions. #BusinessCentral #Inventory

  • How to conduct and record a proper Physical Inventory Count in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Centr

For additional support, please feel free to reach us at Sales@CBRTEchnology.com . Some accounting and inventory procedures are done infrequently in Business Central. As a result, the proper procedure needs to be reviewed prior to conducting a physical inventory count in the system. Business Central Premium edition also supports a cycle count process that allows you to select items in the system based on item-specific count cycle indicators. The basic process is as follows: Make sure all Sales Orders are posted (Shipments at a minimum) Make sure all Purchase Orders are posted (Receivers as a minimum) Make sure all KNOWN inventory adjustments are posted Then use PHY INVENTORY WORKSHEET to start inventory count procedure Use the CALC INVENTORY button ONCE to update the batch with the proper calc quantities IF you discover a un-posted sales order or purchase order AFTER you pressed the CALC button, you MUST delete the whole batch and start over Print the COUNT sheet using the PRINT function with the SHOW LOT and SHOW QTY checkboxes selected Count the Inventory and use the count sheet to note any discrepancies Return to the BATCH and select the items which have a discrepancy, Update the COUNT QTY For each item with a discrepancy, you must select the ITEM TRACKING option to indicate which LotNo is involved If the adjustment is POSITIVE, make sure the unit cost is correct! When done, POST the batch and the inventory will be adjusted. Some of the biggest mistakes you can make are: Pressing the CALC INVENTORY button more than once for the batch. This will create multiple lines for the same item, every time you press the button Using the incorrect UNIT COST when making positive inventory adjustments based on the count. Please feel free to reach out to us for additional support or custom reporting requirements. Sales can be reached at Tel. (855) 227-0700. #BusinessCentral #Inventory

  • Target Chaining or Unrecoverable Error when Running QuickBooks Rebuild Utility

After rebuilding your company file in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise, the QBWIN.log (QuickBooks log files) displays Target Chaining errors such as these: Verify.c (4620) : CHECKPOINT: 1104: Thu Jul 14 15:36:39 Target Chaining: Target ###### in transaction ######, points to ‘next’ target ###### which is NOT in that transaction Verify.c (4747) : CHECKPOINT: 3544: Fri Jul 01 11:25:45 Target Chaining: Next target pointer error in transaction ##### In some cases, you might also get an Unrecoverable Error message. When the company file contains these chaining errors, bills (or sometimes invoices) and payments are unlinked and the corresponding payments do not have names. You may also see In Version 2.0 in the Entered/Last Modified column instead of the actual date of affected transactions when you run Audit Trail or Transaction Detail reports. These errors may occur due to insufficient RAM (memory) allocation during the Verify/Rebuild, or a large company file. If your company file is more than 1GB in size, contact us at (855) 227-0700 to help you sort it out. If your company file is less than 1GB Run Rebuild. Reminders: Do not run Rebuild over the network. Ensure you are running the Rebuild from the location where the company file is stored, or copy the company file to another location to run the Rebuild locally. Restart the workstation/server before running Rebuild if possible. This should free up memory. Run the Rebuild where you have the most physical RAM. Go to the QuickBooks File menu and select Utilities and then Rebuild Data. Select OK, then wait for rebuild to finish.Note: In some cases, the View Results screen immediately following the Rebuild will show inaccurate results in the Errors we couldn’t fix section. Please disregard. Run Verify to ensure there are no additional errors. Go to the QuickBooks File menu, and select Utilities and then Verify Data. Select OK, then wait for the verify to finish. If these steps do not resolve the issue, you need to restore a backup created prior to the Rebuild that resulted to the Target Chaining error. If you are not sure which backup to restore, open the company file and press F2 (or Ctrl+1) on your keyboard to bring up the Product Information screen. In the Versions used on File section, check the RB date. On the restored company file: Press F2 (or Ctrl+1) on your keyboard. On the Product Information page, make sure there is no RB date or the RB date is not close to the day when the problem began. Run Rebuild utility, followed by a Verify. If it still fails and you continue to have issues with bills/invoices and payments or if you still see Version 2.0 in Transaction Detail reports, look for another backup. If a good backup is not available, you will unfortunately have to create a new company file and re-enter your transactions. Contact us at the number below for additional help with this process. • QuickBooks Company File is Missing or cannot be Found

The following error is displayed when attempting to open the company file from the location listed in the No Company Open window: Warning: The company file you selected could not be found. You can try one of the following: Choose the ‘Open or Restore Company…’ command from the ‘File’ menu to look for this file in a different directory. (or) Use the ‘Search’ tool from the Windows ‘Start Menu’ to search for this file in your computer. This normally happens if your computer is disconnected from the path where the QuickBooks file is located or your QuickBooks file has been deleted from your computer.
